# knowsme > knowsme (https://knowsme.dev) is portable memory for every AI: one memory that belongs to > you and follows you to every machine and every AI app, so a new chat, a new laptop or a > different AI already knows who you are and what you are working on. knowsme is a hosted memory service that any AI app speaking MCP (Model Context Protocol) can read and write. It is cross-platform on purpose: it is not tied to one AI company. It works with MCP clients on a computer, such as Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Cursor and VS Code, and with web and phone apps that accept a custom connector, such as ChatGPT, claude.ai and the Claude app, Gemini, Grok and Le Chat. knowsme.dev is not the same thing as "KnowMe" (an open-source, local-only notes tool) or knowns.dev (a separate project). ## What it does - Your AI saves notes about you and your projects as it works: who you are, how you like to work, what each project is and where it was left. - Any AI you connect reads those notes at the start of a chat, so you never re-explain. - You write your own rules ("how I want to be worked with"); every connected AI reads them first. - You can read, edit, download or delete everything at https://knowsme.dev/app. ## Connect an AI The memory address is https://mcp.knowsme.dev/mcp (older SSE clients: https://mcp.knowsme.dev/sse). Sign-in happens once in the browser; no key needs to be pasted. - Claude Code: `claude mcp add knowsme --scope user --transport http https://mcp.knowsme.dev/mcp` - OpenCode: `opencode mcp add knowsme --url https://mcp.knowsme.dev/sse` then `opencode mcp auth knowsme` - Codex CLI: `codex mcp add knowsme --url https://mcp.knowsme.dev/mcp` - Gemini CLI: add `{"mcpServers": {"knowsme": {"url": "https://mcp.knowsme.dev/sse"}}}` to ~/.gemini/settings.json - Web and phone apps: add a custom connector with the address https://mcp.knowsme.dev/mcp - Full, per-app steps: https://knowsme.dev ## Remove it - Windows (PowerShell): `irm https://knowsme.dev/get/uninstall.ps1 | iex` - Mac, Linux or WSL: `curl -fsSL https://knowsme.dev/get/uninstall.sh | sh` - Web and phone apps: "Disconnect everything" at https://knowsme.dev/app ## Privacy Plain-language policy, including who can read what: https://knowsme.dev/privacy
